Unwanted hair and IPL hair removal in Cirencester
Unwanted facial and body hair is treated at ALBA Skin & Beauty Clinic in Cirencester with IPL hair removal, delivered as a course of six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Coarse dark hair on lighter skin responds best. Grey, red and very fine hair does not respond to IPL at all.
What is it
Hair growing where you would rather it did not, most commonly on the upper lip, chin, underarms, bikini line, legs and back. Shaving and waxing manage it temporarily; IPL reduces it long term.
What causes it
Genetics and hormones. Increased facial hair in women can also be linked to conditions such as PCOS, which is worth discussing with your GP alongside treatment.
What usually helps
IPL targets pigment in the hair follicle during its active growth phase, which is why a course is needed rather than a single session. Most people see substantial reduction after six to eight sessions, with occasional maintenance afterwards.
What won’t help
IPL on grey, white, red or very fine blonde hair. There is not enough pigment for the light to target, and no number of sessions changes that. We would rather tell you at the patch test than take payment for a course.
