IPL hair removal for body
Body IPL hair removal reduces unwanted hair on the underarms, legs, bikini line, back and chest by targeting pigment in the follicle. At ALBA Skin & Beauty Clinic in Cirencester it is delivered with the Zemits QuantumPeak using Fluid Motion delivery, which treats larger areas faster than stamping. A course of six to eight sessions six weeks apart is typical.

How it works
Light is absorbed by melanin in the hair and conducted to the follicle, disabling regrowth. Fluid Motion delivery means the handpiece glides continuously with evenly spaced pulses rather than stamping section by section, which covers large areas faster and heats the follicle more gradually and comfortably.
What it treats
Underarms, full and half legs, bikini line, Brazilian, back, chest, shoulders, stomach and arms. Larger areas are quoted individually.
RESULTS TIMELINE
Noticeable reduction from session 3. Fullest result at the end of the course.

Is it right for you?
Best results on dark hair. Body hair often responds faster than facial hair because it is less hormonally driven. Grey, white, red and very fine blonde hair will not respond.

Questions people ask
How many IPL sessions will I need for legs?
Most people need six to eight sessions spaced six weeks apart, because only hair in its active growth phase responds to each treatment. Occasional maintenance sessions keep the result afterwards.
Can I have IPL if I have a tan?
No. A tan, including fake tan and sunbed use, puts extra pigment in the skin that competes with the hair for the light energy, raising the risk of burns. ALBA asks for four weeks with no sun exposure or tanning before treatment.
Is IPL hair removal permanent?
It is permanent reduction rather than permanent removal. Most people see substantial long-term reduction after a full course, with occasional maintenance sessions to keep it. Hormonal changes can prompt new growth later.
